Converts a number between the 50-plus units held in its own lookup table, grouped into eight categories: length, weight/mass, volume, area, speed, time, pressure and energy. You choose a category, type a value, then pick the from and to units; the page multiplies the value by the source unit's base factor and divides by the target unit's factor, and prints the resulting number. The factor table ships inside the component, so the conversion runs on the tab's own CPU and the value you type is never sent anywhere.

How to use it

1. Pick a category from the first dropdown; the From and To lists reload with that category's units.
2. Type the number in the Value box, then set From Unit and To Unit - the button between them (up/down arrows) swaps the pair.
3. Press Convert and read the Result box, or Copy Output to put the exact number on the clipboard.

Worked example

When to use it

• A recipe, blueprint or product spec gives a measurement in imperial units and your tools are metric.
• You are comparing a package, parcel or body weight given in kg, lb or stone and need one scale.
• A datasheet quotes pressure in PSI or bars, or speed in knots, and you want the units you work in.

What it does not do

• Temperature is not a category here, and neither are data sizes; this site has separate converter tools for those, so a Celsius-to-Fahrenheit job needs a different page.
• Results are unrounded floating-point numbers: 100 m in feet comes out as 328.0839895013123. There is no significant-figures or decimal-places control, so round the value yourself before pasting it into a document.
• The volume and mass lists mix systems: gallon, pint and fluid ounce are US measures, not imperial, and 'US Tons' (907.185 kg) differs from 'Long Tons' (1016.05 kg) by roughly 109 kg per ton.
• The value box accepts negatives and scientific notation but rejects anything non-numeric with 'Please enter a valid number'; it will not read a value with a unit glued to it, so '5kg' has to be entered as 5.
