Password Generator🔒 100% local
Generate cryptographically secure random passwords. Customize length, character sets, and exclusions.
Related Tools
Draws passwords with the browser's crypto.getRandomValues from a character set you assemble by ticking lowercase, uppercase, numbers and symbols, minus any characters you exclude as visually similar (i, l, 1, L, o, 0, O) or ambiguous ({, }, [, ], (, ), /, , quotes, backtick, tilde and more). It can emit up to 50 at once and shows the resulting charset size and entropy before you generate.
How to use it
- Set the length (4-128) and the count (1-50).
- Tick the character sets and any exclusions; the entropy readout in the middle updates as you change them.
- Press Generate Passwords, then copy them one at a time, use Copy All, or save them with Download .txt.
Worked example
length 16, count 5, all four sets, exclude similar and ambiguousbecomesEntropy: 97.7 bits (charset size: 69)This readout is fixed for those settings. The five passwords below it are drawn from the OS random source and are different every time you generate.
length 16, all four sets, no exclusionsbecomesEntropy: 103.4 bits (charset size: 88)Turning both exclusion options off widens the pool to 88 characters and adds 5.7 bits over the default settings.
When to use it
- Creating a batch of one-off account passwords you will store in a manager.
- Producing a password that avoids characters a system might mangle, by excluding similar and ambiguous ones.
- Handing several generated passwords to a team or a device provisioning script.
What it does not do
- Every password is random, so there is no fixed output to reproduce. The entropy line is the only value that stays the same for a given set of options.
- The draw uses array[j] % charset.length on 32-bit random words, so characters near the start of the set are very slightly more likely than those at the end because the range is not a multiple of the charset size.
- Selection is per character, not per class. A generated password is not guaranteed to contain at least one symbol, one digit or one uppercase letter - it is only likely to.
- Exclusions shrink the pool a lot: with the default exclusions the charset is 69 characters rather than 88, so a 16-character password carries 97.7 bits instead of 103.4.
- Length is clamped to 4-128 and count to 1-50, and the tool writes the values only to the page and to a downloaded .txt file you create yourself.
