HEX Converter🔒 100% local
Decimal to hex conversion. Privacy-first, no server uploads, no tracking.
Converts between decimal, hexadecimal bytes and text using a single input box. The direction is inferred from what you paste: an even-length run of hex digits containing at least one of the letters a-f is read as hex bytes and decoded to text, digits alone are read as a decimal number, and anything else is treated as text and encoded to hex. All three branches execute in the page.
How to use it
- Paste a decimal number, a hex byte string such as 48656C6C6F, or ordinary text.
- Press Process.
- Copy the line you need. Each result also carries the other representations alongside it.
Worked example
255becomesDec: 255
Hex: FF
Binary: 11111111
Bytes: 1 bytes255 has no a-f letter in it, so it is read as decimal rather than as the hex byte 0xFF. The wording on the last line is the tool's own.
48656C6C6FbecomesHex: 48656C6C6F
Text: Hello
Dec: 310939249775
Binary: 01001000 01100101 01101100 01101100 01101111Even length plus letters, so this takes the hex-to-text branch. The Dec line is what the whole string parses to as one number.
When to use it
- Reading a hex dump out of a log file or a packet capture.
- Turning a decimal byte offset or a colour channel number into hex.
- Producing a hex string for a payload you need to paste into a config file.
What it does not do
- The inference is the whole interface and there is no mode switch. 10 and 255 are always decimals, never hex bytes, and a hex string with no letters, such as 1012, also comes back as the number 1012.
- Hex-to-text decodes as UTF-8, so bytes that are not valid UTF-8 produce replacement characters instead of an error message.
- There is no 0x or backslash-x prefix support and no BigInt: parseInt yields a double, so values above 2^53 lose precision in the Dec line.
