Checks a proposed slug against a list of slugs you already have and, on a collision, proposes the next free numeric suffix. The first item you enter is the candidate; everything after it, split on commas or line breaks and lowercased, is the existing set. The comparison is done in the page against only the list you paste.
How to use it
- Type the slug you want first, then a comma or newline, then the slugs already in use.
- Press Process. The output says either UNIQUE or CONFLICT, and on a conflict names the next free suffix.
- Press Clear and repeat with the accepted slug added to the list.
Worked example
My Post, my-post, my-post-2becomesSlug: "my-post"
Status: ✗ CONFLICT - 2 existing slugs match or start with it.
Suggested: my-post-3
Verified: not in your existing list of 2.Computed in Node. The suffix counter starts at 2 and steps up while 'my-post-2', 'my-post-3' and so on are already taken.
My Post, other-postbecomesSlug: my-post
Existing count: 1
Status: ✓ UNIQUE - ready to use as-is.
URL: https://example.com/my-postWhen to use it
- Choosing the slug for a follow-up post when the original title has already been used.
- Checking a batch of proposed slugs for near-collisions such as 'my-post' and 'my-post-2' before creating any routes.
- Confirming that a hand-picked variant is not already in the list you exported from your CMS.
What it does not do
- It only knows the slugs you paste. There is no lookup against your site, a sitemap or the wider web, so UNIQUE means unique within this list and nothing more.
- The first line is always treated as the candidate, so entering a single slug reports it as unique against an empty set of zero existing slugs.
- Conflict detection is a prefix test: any existing slug starting with the candidate plus a hyphen counts, so 'my-post-mortem' would be reported alongside 'my-post-2'.
- The suggested suffix is numeric only. It does not consider a year, a category or a random tail, which the built-in tip itself recommends once a list grows past a hundred entries.
