Paste CSV and get a GitHub-flavoured Markdown table back. The first row becomes the header row and a --- separator is inserted under it; a field wrapped in double quotes may contain commas, and any literal | is escaped with a backslash so it cannot split the row. The parsing and the table string are built inside the page, so the numbers you paste into it stay on your machine.
How to use it
- Paste your CSV into the input box, leaving the header row first.
- Press Process. The Markdown table appears below with a row and column count above it.
- Use Copy Output to put the table on your clipboard, or Clear to empty both boxes.
Worked example
name,age
John,30
Jane,25becomesConverted 2 data rows × 2 columns
| name | age |
| --- | --- |
| John | 30 |
| Jane | 25 |When to use it
- Pasting a spreadsheet extract into a README, a wiki page, or a pull request description.
- Turning a short query result into a table for a bug report.
- Building a comparison table for documentation when opening a spreadsheet would be overkill.
What it does not do
- Comma is the only delimiter. A semicolon- or tab-separated file comes out as one wide column.
- Rows with more or fewer cells than the header are cut or padded to the header width, and the count line warns you when that happened.
- No alignment, sizing, or sorting options are generated - plain Markdown tables only, one table per paste.
